Dr. Pepper’s 23 flavors

In an attempt to distinguish itself from the many other cola-ish products out there, Dr. Pepper has recently put the spotlight on the notion that it has “23 flavors” within the mysterious murky depths of its unique liquid.
Uhhh….sure. Actually, for all these years, I thought it just had one flavor – tasted like Dr. Pepper. And, frankly, of all the cola variations out there, Dr. Pepper is my favorite. Although I rarely drink soda anyway, so I’m not in danger of being their biggest booster or detractor!
I will admit, however, that I think this campaign is effective, despite my cynicism. When you’re in a semi-commodity market, you have to find some way to distinguish yourself, and this concept introduces something that isn’t so easy to attach to a mere soft drink – mystery. Just what are those “23 flavors”? Which of them am I actually tasting at any given moment? How did they come up with this very special formula?
It’s just marketing nonsense, snorts Rational Self. Much ado about nothing, says Rational Self. But Branding Voice says, nice job. Not so easy to take an “old” product in a crowded market, and find a way to stand out.
To celebrate, I think I’ll pour myself another cup of…coffee.

this question…this frustrating question is DRIVING ME INSANE! I tried calling our local St. Louis Dr. pepper bottling company but they were no help and that I was crazy…well yes, of course I’m crazy, I drink the stuff EVERY DAY and don’t know what these 23 mysterious flavors are?! I have the right to know…I demand to know…but nobody cares…
With changing times came changing slogans. To broaden its appeal across the nation, Dr Pepper hailed itself as “the most misunderstood soft drink,” and then in the 1970s became “the most original soft drink ever in the whole wide world.” In 1977, Dr Pepper advertising was marked by the famous “Be a Pepper” campaign, followed by “Be You.” The newest slogan out today is “There’s just more to it,” which coordinates with the emphasis on the 23 fruit flavors that give Dr Pepper its unique taste.
all i know is berry, diet berry, cola, diet cola, cherry vanilla, and diet cherry vanilla wish i knew more !! sorry !!!

Rambo, What about the no prune juice? Dr. Pepper says that there is no prune juice.
samiam, Where did you here about the 7th flavor? I think that would be enough for me decide not to drink, but I would want to be sure that is for real before giving it up.

If Almond were in the drink there would be a warning label that states that it contains nuts.
For that matter, the infamous “11 Herbs and Spices” of KFC didn’t hold up to lab scrutiny. The analysis found:
1) Salt
2) Pepper
3) Flour
4) MSG.
wow ive always thought dr pepper was a mix of something like cola and root beer but 23 ingredients … thats insane!!

i dont believe theres 23 flavors unless u seriuosly prove it! but it doesnt seem like ur proving it so, ppl there arent 23 flavors in dr pepper thats just 2 impossible in my mind.but what the hey i still luv my dr pepper! *smiles*
they say the 23 flavors are secret said this guy on wikianswers but he said one of them is vanilla
plain and simple. YOUR AN IDIOT.
Sala flavoured syrup, vanilla essence and water. I have yet to try it with carbonated water but it tastes VERY clsoe to Dr pepper.
if you really want to know the ingredients to make your own, then try… 1) amaretto… 2) 151… 3) cheap beer…that’s right! good ol flaming dr pepper!!
